How to Apply Your Perfume

How to Apply Your Arabic Perfume 💧

Arabic perfumes are different from Western ones. Apply them correctly and they will last all day (or longer).

📍 Key Application Points

Body temperature activates the notes. Apply where blood flows close to the skin:

  • Wrists (do not rub them afterward)
  • Neck (sides, not back of the neck)
  • Behind the ears
  • Inside the elbows
  • Behind the knees (for summer)
  • On the hair (in moderation)

✅ 5 Golden Rules

1. Apply on hydrated skin

Dry skin absorbs perfume. Apply unscented cream beforehand. Fragrances last up to 30% longer on hydrated skin.

2. NEVER rub your wrists

Rubbing breaks down aromatic molecules and reduces longevity. Just apply and let air dry.

3. Apply from 15-20 cm away (spray)

The right distance for a good, even spray.

4. Less is more

Arabic perfumes are up to 40% pure oil. 2-3 sprays are enough. For attar (oil), one drop is sufficient.

5. Do not mix more than 2 fragrances

It creates olfactory conflict. Better to layer: clean base (musk) + strong note (oud or rose).

💧 Spray vs Attar (Oil)

Spray (EDP, EDT, Extrait)

  1. Shake gently
  2. Spray from 15-20 cm
  3. 2-3 sprays daily, 4-5 at night
  4. Let air dry (DO NOT rub)

Attar / Pure oil

  1. Open carefully
  2. Use the applicator (wand)
  3. Apply one drop directly to pulse point
  4. One drop = scent all day
  5. Close the bottle tightly

⏰ When to apply?

Apply your perfume 15-20 minutes before going out. Top notes are stronger in the first minute; then the heart and base notes settle in.

🌡️ How to Store Your Perfume

  • Away from direct sunlight
  • Away from heat (not in a steamy bathroom)
  • Stable temperature (15-25°C)
  • Upright position, lid closed
  • In its original box if possible

Stored correctly, an Arabic perfume can last 3-5 years.

❌ Common Mistakes

  • Applying on clothes (stains and reduces longevity)
  • Rubbing wrists
  • Applying too much
  • Storing in the bathroom
  • Mixing attar with spray
